New application “brings” the University of Economics to students’ mobile phones

With the phrase, “the world of OPA on your mobile phone”, the Athens University of Economics and Business presented the myAUEB, the new mobile application, designed specifically for undergraduate students. Students will have a wealth of information about their studies such as exams, deadlines for submitting assignments, how many courses do they owe to get a degreeview grades in their courseseupdate on the Student Club catering menu etc.

What’s in the app?

This is a comprehensive undergraduate application that connects with the information systems of the University and with external information systemsproviding personalized information on a wide range of services and features such as:

  • Digital calendar with daily lesson schedule
  • Announcements for assignments and exams
  • Reminders for all assignment submission deadlines
  • Analysis of study progress with view of the score
  • View degree completion rate
  • Immediate notifications (Push Notifications) for extraordinary changes in the University program or important news
  • Personalized management of user notifications

The myAUEB comes to enhance the students’ experience with the University based on modern multi-channel communication, i.e. the provision of the necessary information by the University through the channels in which the female students and the students of. A whole world of digital services make their everyday life better with:

  • Complete information on study procedures per year
  • Digital communication with the Department Secretariat with the possibility of sending requests
  • Connection to e-Class and e-Secretariat
  • Direct communication with teachers’ email
  • Direct connection to the Evdoxos program
  • Update on the Student Club catering menu
  • Direct connection to OPA’s Social Media

The Athens University of Economics and Business, having as its main concern the even better connection of students with the labor market, provides the possibility of immediate information on: Immediate employment opportunities with a detailed presentation of the company, the conditions and benefits of each job position. Possibility of digitally sending an application and CV for the selected position

myAUEB is the first comprehensive mobile application in a Greek university, available on Google and Apple stores. For the design of myAUEB, the scientific methodology of designing new and innovative digital media was followed: a survey of corresponding applications was carried out in universities abroad, recording the needs and existing information systems and determining specifications based on the needs of the student population. The mapping of needs and specifications was done using the human-centered design thinking method with the participation of volunteer groups of students, graduates and employees at the University. The application, implemented in collaboration with COSMOTE and the digital marketing company White Space, is specially designed, according to international standards, to be easy to use and attractive, and has already gathered very positive feedback from the student groups that participated both in the initial design as well as in the test phases of its development. On the occasion of the presentation of myAUEB, o Rector of OPA Professor Dimitris Bourandonis, said: “One of our strategic priorities is to provide an upgraded university environment, which is achieved through, among other things, digital upgrading. Focused on the OPA student, we provide a system with comprehensive information on all aspects of undergraduate studies, thus taking an important step towards the digital transformation of the University”.
