P. Kappatos: Strengthening the Cultural Sector with the “Creative Greece” Bill

Posted: Thursday, April 25, 2024 4:14 p.m

Member of Parliament of Kefalonia and Ithaki

I had the honor to speak on the new “Creative Greece” bill submitted by the Ministry of Culture, which seeks to upgrade the cinematographic, audiovisual and creative sector, as well as the establishment of bodies that will contribute to the formation of a modern framework for culture and the arts.

It is a commitment to an ambitious and innovative political proposal that seeks to highlight and strengthen the cultural and creative sector of our country.

This initiative includes the creation of the “Hellenic Center for Cinema, Audiovisual Media and Creation – Creative Greece”, which combines and strengthens the strengths of existing organizations, saving resources and promoting the strategic extroversion of Greek culture.

Also, the new Cash Rebate Greece program will contribute to ensuring greater stability and predictability for investors, with the return of 40% of investments in audiovisual projects.

In addition, with the establishment of the “Hellenic Book and Culture Foundation”, we aim to highlight and promote Greek letters and the book both inside and outside our borders, thus supporting the extroversion and cultural influence of Greece worldwide.

These initiatives are not just steps forward, but a groundbreaking perspective for the cultural renaissance of Greece. It is a call to participation and action.

Concluding my speech, I called on all Greek citizens, political actors, creators and cultural workers to join in this effort, to make Greece a global example of cultural prosperity and creative development.
