The above is emphasized by Member of Parliament for Larissa of New Democracy, Mr. Maximos Charakopoulos in his statement on the occasion of the decision signed by Deputy Minister of Education Mr. Zetta Makriaccording to which the nickname “EVAGORAS PALLICARIDIS” is added to the 23rd Primary School of Larissa, following relevant recommendations of the Regional Directorate of Thessaly, the Directorate of Primary Education of Larissa, the Municipal Council of Larissa, the School Council and the Teachers’ Association.
The MP and historical researcher, in his statement, underlines that “This decision of the Ministry of Education, after a proposal from all the involved bodies of Larissa, is a due act to a young child who fearlessly fought an entire empire with Freedom as his vision. Even at the last hour when the forces of English colonialism were leading him to the scaffold, despite being only a 19-year-old child, trampling on every concept of humanity, Evagoras Pallikaridis did not cower.
He remained proud and free, giving by his example strength to all the Greeks of Cyprus to continue the fight for the Union. And this vision may not have been completed, Pallikaridis, however, is deservedly counted among the great heroes of the nation. The naming of the school after him will be a timeless reminder of his sacrifice for the new generations.”
