#3 What is music if not a spell?

What is the act of listening if not a collective ritual? Music distorts time, flattens it and expands it at the will of its creator. The musician is a magician who reminds the listener of the constant movement and wonder of things. Hidden worlds are revealed, a sense of past, present and future is restored.

Music remythologizes reality, making it magical, intensifying both its open element and the possibilities it hides within it and are waiting to be awakened. The listener listens, moves, dances. A collective mind and body participates in this primordial ritual and, through this action, remembers what it has always unconsciously known: there are conditions and forces at work in this world that one may not fully understand, but can play into. with them and overthrow them.

Borderline Festival 2024 comes with a vision of magical realism. It aims to penetrate the reality of our time, not through escapism, but through imagination, vision and empathy beyond the barriers. From Athens to the Mediterranean, in a time plagued by war, inequality, extreme impoverishment and unbearable alienation, the Borderline Festival invites a collective deep listening to the sound of ever-emerging change…
