In a three-hour work stoppage and a protest rally at the Thessaly Region Administration in Larissa, the Thessaly Region Workers Association went ahead today against the “Bill of the Ministry of Environment & Energy”.
The workers claim:
“Not to proceed with the transfer of employees of the Region of Thessaly to an Anonymous Company, to O.D.Y.Th. S.A.. nor the change of their working relationship, with the conversion of the permanent relationship of a civil servant to an indefinite one!!! No fellow civil servant should be “transferred” to a Public Company.
To prevent the privatization and commercialization of water, the creation of O.D.Y.TH. S.A.
All competent services should be upgraded to fully fulfill their role, and all the necessary projects should be implemented to ensure cheap, tested, quality water”.
The statements of the president of the Workers’ Association of the Region of Thessaly are typical Petrou Skampouraswho among other things noted that water is a social good and cannot be managed by an anonymous company, while stressing that the workers will continue the struggle.
