Giannis Kallianou’s father died

In the ICU of the “Attikon” hospital the father of Yiannis Kallianos breathed his last, at the age of 79.

The ND MP and meteorologist had made known the serious state of his father’s health after a serious complaint about the NHS and, specifically, about the public hospital where he had to be treated.

Through his post on Facebook, Mr. Kallianos described his father’s health adventurestating that he wants to “take on the system” for the way they handled his situation.

“I want to say some things not to make you feel sorry for me, but to expose a system of specific people that have brought not only me, but my whole family to this situation” Mr. Kallianos initially reported.

“My father has many health problems as he is on dialysis and has diabetes. 15 days ago he entered Voula as he blackened his finger as he has a diabetic foot. He was treated very well in Voula, but was told that such major vascular issues cannot be treated properly and he should be in another hospital. He went in, had surgery the next day and had his big toe amputated“.

“For the next five days he was doing well. On the sixth day, he desaturated, that is, the oxygen was falling. My brother is a doctor in Cyprus, he saw him in this condition and came and saw him and told him to get on the platform and be admitted to the ICU, because he could not continue to be well. The doctor who operated on him together with the whole team told us that there is no reason and that “we all sign” that Mr. Kallianos is well, very well. My brother begged them to put him in MAF. They didn’t put him in, they said he was fine“ he explained, stating that for 5 days they had been begging them, but that the doctors said he was fine, even though his oxygen kept dropping.

Mr Kallianos then burst out: “My tears have dried up begging them to put him in an MAF. My dad finally desaturated and had a seizure today and was intubated and put in ICU. Because what my father went through, many people will have gone through, they can’t imagine what they have to go through from me and my brother. I hope my father can make it, although it is very difficult now. Sorry for crying… He had no oxygen at all and a nurse came over every 4 hours“.

“This is the situation in this Greek hospital, I don’t know what else to do, I did everything” concluded Mr. Kallianos, who, although at first he had not mentioned the name of the hospital, then revealed that it refers to “Attiko”, while noting that he took the doctor who said he was fine and asked him the reason, with the same to deny it.

“In this country, all sick people must be treated in the same way, in the way they deserve. They do not deserve such an end and such a situation” he concluded, particularly emotionally charged.

The deputy of New Democracy was mentioned both in the announcement of the “Attikon” hospital, after his complaints, as well as the position of the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, on the matter.

“They have dried my tears to plead with them every time that my father is not well and that they should put him in an ICU at least or in an intensive care unit without intubating him”.

“Even with the mask he had 60 saturation, and my brother went upstairs and put films on him, and he said guys he needs ICU, he needs ICU or ICU the person won’t live, and they told him “no Mr. Kalliane he is excellent the gentleman, don’t don’t worry at all”.

It all started when his father was transferred from the “Asclepion” of Voula to the “Attiko” hospital to be operated on for gangrene. However, after the operation, as he says, his health deteriorated and despite his pleas to put his father in an Intensive Care Unit, the doctors, as he complains, were indifferent.

“We took him to the Atticon, where he underwent surgery on his leg. But then he had shortness of breath, but the doctors were telling me that “your father is doing very well and his tests were great. My father began to have increasingly severe shortness of breath, and the doctors told us, however, that he was getting better every day. The professor, in such a serious case of a patient like my father, decided that he did not need to be admitted to the intensive care unit.

You can’t imagine how deep I’ll drive the knife into the bone. We were asking him to go to the Intensive Care Unit and we were told he was doing better. My father finally had a seizure and is now in intensive care. He should have come in earlier. My father almost “gone” at night. They brought him back but they give him a 5 to 15% chance of living.” he said characteristically.
