The father of Yannis Kallianos passed away at the age of 79. on Thursday morning.
In the previous days, the meteorologist and Member of Parliament of New Democracy had described the seriousness of his father’s condition, while he had expressed complaints about the way his family was treated at the hospital.
Yiannis Kallianos, in a video he published on Facebook on Tuesday, described the health adventure of his father, Dimitris, leaving tips for his treatment at the “Attiko” hospital.
However, both the management of the nursing institution and the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, taking responsibility for the incident, assured that a specific protocol that applies to every patient of the NHS was followed to the letter.

As Yiannis Kallianos wrote in his post, “today half of my life was cut short. I still hope that with the help of the Virgin Mary, the rest will not be cut short as well. What they did to my father, they will pay dearly for.”
“I want to say some things not to make you feel sorry for me, but to expose some people who have brought my family to this situation. My father is a man who suffers from many problems, he also has sugar, is on dialysis and has a diabetic foot. Before 15 days he entered Voula as he blackened his finger.
In Voula they treated him very well, but he had to go to another hospital – (I won’t say it now, I will say it in a few days) as the meteorologist said, describing then the agony and calvary of his family during the days of hospitalization .
My father went to this public hospital and had his big toe amputated. For the next five days he was doing well. On the sixth day he was full. My brother is a doctor in Cyprus and he came and saw him and told him to enter the platform and be admitted to the ICU, Yannis Kallianos continued, stressing that the doctors assured him that his father was fine.
“The doctors told me that we all sign that Mr. Kallianos is fine,” he specifically burst out. My brother begged them to put him in MAF, she continued.
“My tears have dried up. I begged them to put him in an ICU,” he said, crying, noting that today his father suffered severe desaturation and seizures while “he was doing very well for them”, they intubated him and put him in the intensive care unit.
I hope my father can make it, it’s too hard now and God help. Pray if you will, I don’t know what else to do, we begged them to put him in a unit. Because what my father went through, many people will have gone through, they can’t imagine what they have to go through from me and my brother. Things are difficult but I hope he succeeds. He had no oxygen at all and a nurse came over every 4 hours. How would my father cope. This is the situation in this Greek hospital. And as soon as I got the doctor and I told him “that’s how my father was fine and you all signed” he said “I didn’t tell you such a thing”.
“It doesn’t matter,” continued Yiannis Kallianos, “let my father get well and they will see what these people will suffer…”
“In this country all sick people should be treated the same way in the way they deserve, they don’t deserve such an end and such a situation. Please pray,” concluded Yiannis Kallianos.
