Heavy bells for a hostage case and the stabbing of a 35-year-old prison officer…

With heavy bells, the two defendants left the Mixed Jury Court of Lamia for the hostage case and the injury of a prison officer at the Malandrino Booking Shop in May 2022.

The two Greek Barypoinites, 39 and 36 years old today, they had held their victim hostage at knifepoint and then stabbed him in the abdomen.

The Court, made up of regular and lay judges, unanimously found them guilty of the acts of grievous bodily harm, joint robbery, illegal possession of weapons and violence against an employee, imposing a total prison sentence of 14 years and 18 months on each. In fact, their appeal has no deterrent force, as they are Baripoinites with a history of homicides and robberies.

In addition, the 39-year-old has a conviction for the attempted murder of a Chief Warden at the Trikala Police Station, while his co-accused has two murders and robberies in his file.

In their apologies and through their advocates Dimitris Polyzou and Dimitras Papatheodorouclaimed that they did not understand what they were doing as they were under the influence of drugs.

From the side of 37 years old today a correctional officer testified that “I was afraid for my life and I didn’t even know why they attacked me.” Then, his colleagues had intervened to save him, so that he could be quickly transferred to the Amfissa Hospital where he was treated.
