The Mayor of Heraklion at the school complex of the Academy

The 53rd and 54th Primary School of Heraklionin the Academy complex, visited by Mayor of Heraklion Alexis Kalokairinos, in order to discuss with teachers and parents the course of the static strengthening of the buildings.

Accompanied by Deputy Mayor of Technical Works Giorgos Sisamakis and Service executive Dimitras KendristakisAlexis Kalokairinos spoke with them Principals of the Primary Schools, Panagiotis Zeginoglou of the 54th and Athina Andriotis of the 53rdthem Presidents of the Parents & Guardians Associations, the 54th Mario Dionelis and the 53rd Christina Pantou, the members of the Associations Danais Robopoulou (54th), Giorgos Xylouris, Thodoris Terzakis and Aleka Rapti (53rd), teachers and studentson the morning of Wednesday 4/24.

Mayor Alexis Kalokairinos pointed out that the new Municipal Authority is called upon to manage the data it received and direct it in the desired direction, always in cooperation with the school community. The meeting discussed all the gaps, technical problems and requirements that have been recorded, possible solutions according to the given context, timetables, the issue of Special Schools, etc. Special reference was made to the issue of creating a multi-purpose hall, which the Mayor of Heraklion recognized as necessary and committed to exhausting every possibility for its creation.

However, the moments when the Mayor of Heraklion was in the courtyard of the school together with the young students of the schools were also special. Alexis Kalokairinos talked to the children, received gifts, and became the recipient of their love, as the photos testify. “I want you to know that all of us, and the teaching community, love you, trust you, and care about you very much. You are the next generation, you at some point – which won’t be too long – will take the city into your own hands. We are trying to make life better in the city, you will move both life and the city forward” the Mayor of Heraklion told them and added: “What I consider very important is to treat everyone else with love and a good mood. Let’s be on the side of love. And love is for everyone. Everyone is human.” Alexis Kalokairinos did not fail to mention the environmental protection actions that take place at the school, saying: “You are the generation that is more sensitive to the environment than we are. For trees, for cleanliness, for recycling. I know you have them on your mind.”
