Floros apologizes and risks prison after the beating in Parliament – The…

--

Heavy talk, headlocks, an injury and a criminal prosecution made up the scene of yesterday’s Parliament, with one MP under prosecution and another in the hospital.

The fight between the independent MP, from the Spartans, Konstantinos Floros, and the Hellenic Solution MP, Vassilis Grammenos, reminded us of the days of the Golden Dawn, with the former being held overnight in GADA and today apologizing to the investigator for the crime of attacking member of parliament, which carries a prison term of up to 10 years.

Eyewitnesses spoke yesterday of thuggish behavior, of… grabbing the MPs by the collar, but also of toxicity that is increasing as we march on the road to the June 9 elections, while at the same time the Areios Pagos cut the Spartans out of the fight, on the grounds that their real leader is not Vassilis Stigas, but Ilias Kasidiaris.

The victim, according to the accused, launched a verbal attack against his mother, with the spark not long to ignite. According to information, the two MPs had a legal dispute in the past, with the dispute flaring up on the occasion of the debate in Parliament on the lifting of the immunity of K. Velopoulos, after a lawsuit by K. Floros’ father against the president of the Hellenic Solution. The controversy seems to go back in time, as Efstathios Floros claims to have been a co-founder of the Hellenic Solution.

“It’s not a political conflict”

The accused member of parliament, who became a bull in a glass shop, maintains that the curses he heard from the Hellenic Solution member of parliament were such in magnitude that they provoked his anger. But he seemed to regret it, as he said in interviews, shortly before he was sent to GADA.

“It is a personal conflict caused by the incredible obscenities towards my mother with insults, it has no political dimension, I cannot understand why it takes political dimensions. It was caused because of this. I my mother when I hear someone cursing her, because she is what’s most sacred i will do anything to protect this i acted impulsively it was an unfortunate moment if i aged back in time i would definitely be calmer and cooler.

The first reason I turned around and went after him was because I wanted to talk, but that didn’t happen, because unfortunately the whole scene continued with the insults. Unfortunately it was impulsive, I’m sure if I could go back in time I would have taken it much more calmly.” says the accused MP, but the damage is already done.

The apology

With a felony on his back, K. Floros will cross the threshold of the investigator today, risking even his temporary detention, which of course he will try to prevent. With the case file still incomplete, since no forensic report has been drawn up nor has video footage from the Parliament’s cameras been included in it, the investigator only has in her hands the statements of those involved as well as the witnesses who learned about the incident. And he will be asked to decide whether the independent MP should be remanded in prison or released on parole pending trial.
