All employees employed at private sector with a dependent labor relationship indefinite or definite timefull-time or part-time for any employer, in accordance with current legislation.

The Easter gift is paid on Holy Wednesdaywhich this year is on May 1st. It goes without saying that the employer can pay the gift earlier than the above date. For the Easter Gift, contributions for EFKA (IKA) and Wage Tax are given, while under no circumstances is it allowed to be paid in kind, but only in money.

Easter gift: How the amount is calculated

As KPEA notes, for the calculation of the amount of the Easter gift, the method of remuneration of the employees is taken into account, i.e. whether they are paid a daily wage or a salary. The time period for which the gift is calculated starts from January 1st to April 30th of each year. Therefore, if the employment relationship lasted the entire period of time the employee entitled to receive half a month’s wages if salaried and 15 days’ wages if salaried.

However, in the event that the employment relationship of an employee with his employer did not last the entire aforementioned period, he is entitled to receive a proportion of the gift which is calculated as follows: In the case of a salaried employee, an amount equal to 1/15 of half the monthly salary or a daily wage, for those who are paid a daily wage for every 8 (eight) calendar days of the duration of the employment relationship. In the event that the employment relationship lasts less than eight days, he is entitled to a corresponding portion for the Easter Gift.

The Easter gift calculated on the basis of actual paid regular salaries on the 15th day before Easter, as long as they are equal or superior to the legal ones. In case the employment relationship has been terminated before the above date, the Easter Gift is calculated based on the wages paid on the day the employment relationship was terminated. Regular remuneration is considered the salary or daily wage as well as any other benefit (whether in money or in kind) paid by the employer as a contractual or legal consideration for the work provided regularly every month or repeated periodically at certain intervals of the year.
