“SYRIZA wants Greece at the core of Europe and not far from it. The rule of law is a cornerstone of Greek democracy and a pillar of the European Union, values from which Greece has moved away due to the ND-Mitsotakis government,” said the SYRIZA MEP candidate, Dora Avgeri, speaking on the radio station “Flash 99.4 fm” in Thessaloniki.

“SYRIZA-PS wants Greece at the core of Europe and not far from it. We must restore the European acquis, return to the rule of law, strengthen the quality of democracy.
We must return to Europe, Greece is the womb of Europe.
We are at risk of a peculiar grexit because of ND and Mr. Mitsotakis”, he concluded.
When asked how worrying is the rise of the extreme right, Dora Avgeri replied that a strong SYRIZA-PS will be a stopping force, in contrast to the ND and K. Mitsotakis who feeds the “egg of the snake” with its dangerous method instrumentalization of the most sensitive issues.
“We must see what it is that spawns and nourishes the serpent’s egg. Unfortunately, Mr. Mitsotakis with his manipulations has nurtured it too much, while he should have learned lessons from what had happened, the instrumentalization of “Macedonikos”, for example, in 2019.
These are dangerous things, they are dangerous tools. K. Mitsotakis is unscrupulous, in using any dangerous tool for his own benefit, not even of his faction I can tell you.
At this moment I imagine that not only people who come from my area are listening to me, but also everyday people who traditionally support the New Democracy, they are conservative people who do not recognize themselves in this ND, this tension and this of “Bakhches has everything”.
Precisely so that Mr. Mitsotakis can sell facilitation to Rama, to sell an allegedly liberal profile to the Europeans, to turn a blind eye to the far-right, to the TV stars as well.
Everything, exactly, for his personal benefit, but in essence society is left alone with its problems.”
To the question “why a cross on Dora Avgeri?”, the SYRIZA-PS MEP candidate answered:
“For what is judged in the European Parliament and I have the experience to manage.
Because I consider that I have been judged and tested successfully as a Member of Parliament for the Second Thessaloniki. I was honored by our fellow citizens in both June 2019 and May 2023, indeed in May 2023 with approximately 2,500 more votes than in 2019. I responded to this parliamentary duty and role as well as to the role of Deputy Head of Health, in in the difficult times of the pandemic.
In the course that I went through in the last months as the Press Representative of the party, in a very difficult moment for SYRIZA – PS, I think that I responded to the maximum.
Furthermore, because Northern Greece needs a strong presence in the European Parliament.
For me, as a genuine Northern Greek who was born in Thessaloniki and grew up in rural Xanthi, the issue of regional inequalities is very important.
It is important to bring our villages back to life, to fight for a sustainable development model for the region, especially for the arid regions, insular Greece, for young people to enter the field again, with new knowledge and the conditions, so that it is worth cultivating the land , that the cost of production is not exorbitant and the price of the product produced is two and three times more expensive when it reaches the table because of the middlemen.
That the children of the region have equal opportunities and that Thessaloniki once again becomes the metropolis of the Balkans, that its people are not exhausted in a daily life that is becoming very difficult.”
