African dust: The atmosphere is gradually clearing, says Thodoris Kolydas

The “invasion” of African dust in the country is gradually receding, according to the director of EMY Theodoris Kolidas.

A few hours after the unprecedented and eerie images witnessed by citizens in dozens of the country’s cities, with the sky turning orange and the atmosphere suffocating due to the African dust, Thodoris Kolidas, in his post on his personal account on platform X, states that the phenomenon recedes.

“The course of microparticles PM2.5 and 10 is decreasing and the atmosphere is gradually clearing,” he says characteristically in his post, which he accompanies with photos.

It is noted that the African dust will remain in the atmosphere at least until today at noon. According to the EKAV, on Tuesday the transfers to hospitals due to shortness of breath were fewer than on any other day. Specifically, if on average 40 cases of shortness of breath are delivered to hospitals per day, yesterday Tuesday a maximum of 15 people were taken to hospitalscreating a picture inversely proportional to that expected from African dust.

It is assumed that citizens with respiratory problems they obeyed the pulmonologists’ instructions and remained at home limiting their movements to the absolutely necessary.
