The civil protection coordinating body met ahead of the fire season

The Regional Operational Coordinating Body for Civil Protection (P.E.S.O.P.P.) of the Region of Western Greece, met today, Wednesday, April 24, 2024, under the Regional Governor Nektarios Farmakis, with the aim of the best possible coordination of all involved bodies for dealing with fire risks, in view of the start of the 2024 fire season.

During the discussion, issues that have been dealt with in the past were mentioned, while at the same time proposals were made with the aim of strengthening prevention and improving the level of preparedness of the agencies involved.

In particular, in order to prevent and deal with risks from the occurrence of fires, the necessity was expressed to strengthen operational readiness and to immediately mobilize the mechanism, based on the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued daily during the fire season by the General Secretariat of Politics protection,

“Our operational planning this year should focus on prevention and increased surveillance so that any incidents are dealt with at their inception, whether they are intentional or negligent fires” stressed the Regional Governor during his placement and requested the development of a cooperation framework, with the aim of more effective operation of the coordinating body (PESOPP) in dealing with and managing crises.
