A special event is hosted these days (22/4-27/4) in our country, specifically at the stadiums of the Municipality of Vari-Voulas-Vouliagmenis. This is the Deaf Football Champions League which is held with the participation of ten teams (it was eleven, but Genoa did not come) from European Union countries. Our country is represented by three teams, ASK Crete Minoas, PAOK Moria (Tripoli) and the co-organizer Panathletiko Amilo Kofon (POK Athens). The event, as I learned, is under the auspices of EPO, with co-organizers the Panathletic Association of the Deaf and the Municipality of Vari-Voulas-Vouliagmenis.

I should add that this action is inextricably linked to UEFA’s FootbALL programme, which aims to use football as a catalyst to promote positive change in society. In fact, the event has quite a big impact as many schools attend the games, while the games that have been held so far, according to what a spectator told me, have special interest and twists. Like the one on the first day of the tournament where POK defeated the French Reims 3-1, which is considered one of the big favorites of the tournament. In fact, the General Secretary of Sports, Giorgos Mavrotas, is also expected to attend Saturday’s final.

They asked Atlético Mineiro with Panathinaikos’ proposal to keep Bernard in their ranks for one more year. The Greens proposed to the Brazilians to … transfer their agreement with the footballer to the summer of 2025 and get a compensation, however in Mineiro they not only did not think about it, but decided to respond in the same way. “We suggest that you give him to us between now and before the end of the season,” the Brazilians said according to the country’s media. And somewhere around there everyone realized that there was no way that either would happen. As for the player himself? “I want to go home,” he said… bluntly a few days ago. Clear.

After the Olympic Games in Paris, elections are scheduled to be held to elect a new administration in the EEC and Panagiotis Fasoulas is determined to claim the anointing once more. That is why it has started to move at a pace… full pre-election. With his latest intervention, he complains to the Lioliou administration that, despite having officially requested it, it does not give him the contact details of the unions in order to contact them directly. He accuses the president of the federation of silencing the Fasoula faction and calls on the Deputy Minister of Sports, Yannis Vroutsis, to ensure equality in the elections.

Ronald Matarita has been out of the plans for some time in Aris, who has not convinced Akis Manzio that he deserves to get opportunities. The footballer from Costa Rica has played in just one match in this year’s championship, in the 4-1 defeat by Olympiacos, and in his statements to the media of his homeland, he admitted that he has problems in his relationship with Manzio, while he revealed that he is in the process of judicial termination of his contract with the team. The 29-year-old player has two more years on his contract with the Yellows, however, as everything shows, he will leave in the summer.

Novak Djokovic was named the top tennis player for 2023 and for this reason he was awarded the Laureus award. Nole won three of the four Grand Slams last year (missing only Wimbledon) and also captured the title at the ATP Finals, finished the year ranked No. 1 in the world and is receiving the Laureus Award for the fifth time in his career. “I am grateful to win this award for the fifth time. The first time I won it was in 2012 and I was only 24 years old. I’m very proud to be standing here 12 years later,” he said.

Achilleas Beos did not leave unanswered the disciplinary action brought against him by the prosecutor Nikolaos Margaritis for defaming the football authorities and bodies after his public statements. The powerful man of PAE Volos made a post on social media and emphasized that he will file a lawsuit and report to the Supreme Court against him for breach of duty. Beos even claims that for a long time he has had nothing to do with PAE and that “I express myself freely as a citizen and mayor”.
