Just around the corner is the first hydrogen filling station in Greece from AVIN, which will give the signal for the penetration of hydrogen mobility in our country.

A decisive role in desulfurization of road transport may have it hydrogenwhich has zero greenhouse gas emissions and can therefore work in addition to electric propulsion.

Today, in our country the hydrogen propulsion it is in a particularly early stage, since the necessary infrastructures are not in place, but it is the government’s goal until 2030 to operate in our country at least 26 gas stations.

The trigger for the penetration of hydrogen propulsion in our country is given by AVIN OILa subsidiary of Motor Oil, which currently builds the first commercial hydrogen station. This will be located at Saint Theodorosin Athens-Corinth on the current towards Athens, while it will be ready at the end of 2024, as stated by the Director General of AVIN, Ioannis Raptakisin the context of the presentation of the new “ACTION” fuels of the petroleum trading company, on Wednesday, April 24.

It is noted that from 2022 a hydrogen filling station also operates at EKEFE (National Center for Natural Sciences Research) “Democritus” but it concerns the supply micro-vehicles.

The first important step for the promotion of hydrogen in our country was made about a year ago, when the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Energy, through a Joint Ministerial Decision (CMD), determined the terms, conditions and technical specifications for installation of hydrogen stations for the movement of road transport vehicles.
