At number 11 of Apollonos Street in Vaporia, Hermoupolis, just before the emblematic church of Agios Nikolaos, the Argini Hotel officially opens its welcoming doors on April 26 aiming to offer a multi-faceted experience of luxurious accommodation and timeless elegance.

Built in the distant 1853 with the aim of housing the family of Grigoris Paikos, a member of the Philikis Etaireia, the building glorifies the grandeur of neoclassical architecture, renovated with modern craftsmanship and absolute respect for his preserved identity as an architectural monument from family of Polycretes. An unparalleled combination of modern luxury with elements of the past, such as the imposing staircase made of wood and marble, the fireplaces and of course the inseparable relationship of the building with the world of art make it a destination in itself.

The magnificence and artistic charm of the building are in the foreground, with the ceiling paintings and frescoes created collectively by artists active on the island during the 19th century, fully preserved by Cleopatra Tsourakis. Renaissance elements, mythical creatures as well as representations of people from the Greek Revolution and the Friendly Society compose a unique accommodation experience, a conversation of yesterday and today.

THE Apostolos Trastelis becomes part of the vision of Yiannis Polykretis with his group to co-sign a metropolitan menu with touches of locality and domestic ingredients at their best. Combining a cosmopolitan gastronomic temperament with a true Greek attitude, his chef Elexis Restaurant Nikos Stamatis orchestrates a menu with international flavors in harmony with the Greek land and its raw materials. So, the restaurant Elexis serves Syros kopanisti, fava beans with Syrian caper jam, salad starring spinach and fig marinated in the island’s wine and cool dishes such as ceviche with yuzu and coconut milk. In hot dishes, the artichokes are refreshed with Hollandaise dressing, while the squid acquires a sweet and sour aftertaste, thanks to the chili jam and ginger. Of course there is no shortage of seafood but also carnivorous options that include Rib Eye to dry aged flap steaks and tomahawk. The conclusion is sweet with the always welcome chocolate in its most creative version, pavlova and matcha brûlée with caramelized shiso. Masterfully structured, the wine list offers options from local, wider Greek but also international vineyard. Breakfast is a la carte with influences from Greek and international gastronomy.
