The Plenary Session of the Parliament decided on Wednesday to lift the immunity of the president of the Hellenic Solution Kyriakos Velopoulos.
The removal of the immunity of the leader of the Hellenic Solution, Kyriakos Velopoulosthe Plenary of the Parliament decided by a majority, with 258 votes “for”, 8 “no” and 3 “present”.
His case concerns defamationthrough a false account on a social network, which according to information was submitted by a former executive of the Hellenic Solution, a senior officer of the Navy.
It is noted that the Ethics Committee had recommended in favor of lifting his immunity by a majority with all parties in favor except the KKE which declared “present”, while the same had been requested by Mr. Velopoulos himself.
The parliamentary representative of the Greek Solution Konstantinos Chitaswho requested and took the floor, emphasized that “although it is a case that does not concern Mr. Velopoulos at all, he chose to be judged before his natural judge”.
“Although it is coming before the election and it is obviously a carbine case of carbine of political expediency, nevertheless our president will be in front of his natural judge to prove that he is not an elephant”, added Mr. Chitas.
