“Nobody from the hospital was indifferent, the procedure was followed”: Adonis…

--

The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, took a position a few hours after the charge complaint of Yiannis Kallianos on social media, according to which, a public hospital did not provide the right care to his father and did not put him either in the ICU or in the Intensive Care Unit in time, as a result of which the 78-year-old suffered an interruption.

In fact, the well-known meteorologist and ND MP claimed that doctors assured him that his father was fine, while his brother Yiannis Kallianou, who is a doctor himself, begged them to at least put him in an intensive care unit.

Adonis Georgiadis, although he emphasized that he respects the pain of every son for his father, supports the hospital, whose name has not been released.

“I have complete confidence in our medical staff and in this case the legal process and the legal criteria have been fully complied with. Reasons for medical confidentiality would not allow me to know the patient’s exact state of health, but I assure you that no one from the hospital was indifferent,” he noted.

Finally, he wished his father Yiannis Kallianos good bye and assured the “blue” member of parliament that “the NSS is doing everything humanly possible to make everything go well for his father, but also for every fellow citizen who needs care”.

Georgiadis post in detail

I let a few hours pass by the moving and humane post of the colleague and @kallianos before I posted. But I’m not used to hiding and I wouldn’t do it now either.

I absolutely respect the pain of every relative for his man and every son for his father. After all, I have lost mine too and I understand the pain.

However, I have to clarify for the public to be properly informed, a few things:

A) The process of entering an ICU patient is transparent, according to strict medical criteria. Therefore, the Ministry and I personally do not interfere -officially- in this purely medical procedure.

B) None of us are exempt from this process, as access to an ICU bed can in some cases decide someone’s life or death. Against this we are all absolutely equal. Decisions are made by doctors based on scientific criteria.

C) I have absolute confidence in our medical staff and in this case the legal procedure and legal criteria have been absolutely followed.

For reasons of medical confidentiality I would not be allowed to know the exact state of health of the patient, but I assure you that no one at the hospital was indifferent.

The ESY and its officers save thousands of people every day and do so with knowledge, conscience, empathy, sensitivity and professionalism.

I wish the father of my friend Yannis a happy birthday and I assure him that the National Health Service is doing everything humanly possible to make sure everything goes well for his father, but also for every fellow citizen who needs care.
