The celebrations for “Diakeia 2024” are over

Memorial prayer for the hero of the Greek Revolution and laying of wreaths on his statue in the square that bears his name…

With the laying of wreaths at the statue of Athanasios Diakos in the square named after the hero of the Greek Revolution in Lamia, the celebrations for the “DIKEIA 2024”, commemorating the battle of Alamana and his martyrdom.

It was preceded by a Holy Memorial Mass at the I. Metropolitan Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos Lamia, by the Pantheological Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Fr. Ephraim TriantafyllopoulosChancellor of the Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida and a speech by the teacher of the Secondary Education of Fthiotida, musicologist – theologian of the 2nd Gymnasium of Lamia Dimitrios Griva.


His Eminence also performed the memorial service at the Cenotaph of the hero on the pedestrian street of Kalyva – Bakoyannis, but also at his statue in the square.

From the President of the Local Community Ath. Diakou Konstantinos Mastrokostopoulos,


From the President of the Local Community of Artotina Ioannis Christodoulou,

From the President of the Bread Association “Athanasios Diakos” Theodoros Martekas,


A Minute’s Silence was observed and the ceremony ended with the singing of our National Anthem.
