Yesterday (Tuesday, April 23) the scheduled meeting of the Mayor of Patreon, Kostas Peletidis, with the Deputy Minister of Sports, Yiannis Vroutsis, took place. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Sports, Environment, Energy and Greenery Takis Petropoulos and officials of the Ministry, including the Advisor to the Minister, Maria Polyzou, who is a marathon runner.
As stated in a statement by the Municipality of Patreon “the Mayor of Patreon informed the Deputy Minister about the efforts of the Municipal Authority to support sports in our city, he referred to the problems caused by the lack of annual state funding for the operation and maintenance of the municipal sports facilities and formulated the following requests:
Adherence to the program concession agreement of the Pamploponnisian Stadium and the settlement of the state’s debt to the Municipality of Patreon.
Funding of the replacement of the Central and Auxiliary tartan of the Pamploponnisian Stadium, according to the new technical specifications of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the installation of two tartan paths around the perimeter under the grandstand.
Financial support of the Municipality for the gradual reconstruction – modernization of the small open neighborhood – community sports centers of the city.
The Deputy Minister of Sports, after informing the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor about the applications of the digital governance of Sports, promoted by the Ministry, expressed his desire to participate with a presentation in a conference on “Sports and Local Government”, which will be organized by the Ministry immediately .
Afterwards, Mr. Vroutsis declared his financial inability to respond to the first request, he pointed out that the financing of the operation and maintenance of the municipal sports facilities is the responsibility of the Ministry of the Interior, he committed himself to the financing of the replacement of the tartans of the Pamploponnisian Stadium and to the symbolic support of the gradual reconstruction of the small open district-community sports centers of the city, with the financing in the first phase of one open field and in the second phase it will consider the possibility of financing another open field.”
