The Municipality of Heraklion will request the mandatory use of vouchers for the registration of children in the municipal nurseries, in view of the start of the application process which starts on May 15.
At the same time, for the first time, an attempt will be made in the nurseries to adopt her model
primary education and with parallel support. That is, as explained by the Deputy Mayor of Education, Antonis Perisynakis, children with special needs who need parallel support will be able to register in daycare centers as normal. The deputy mayor clarifies that on the part of the Municipality an effort will be made to hire additional people for this purpose, depending on the number of applications that will be submitted.
However, – as he clarifies, – even if the parents themselves want a person of their personal choice for their child, but who will privately cover the costs of covering his working time, their request will
is accepted. At the same time, Mr. Perisynakis notes that from this year an effort will be made to make the use of vouchers mandatory for the registration of children in the municipal nursery schools, which will only be done electronically from the page of DOPAFMAI which will remain active for this purpose until 1 July.
In particular, the parents of children who have a joint income of up to 35 thousand euros will be able to submit a relevant request. Those parents who have an income of 35 thousand euros and above will be able to pay tuition fees. In this way, as the deputy mayor explains, the number of parents who will be forced to
they pay school fees and according to his estimations it will be limited to 10% since, as he points out, 90% of parents have an income of 35 thousand euros or less.
At the same time, as he emphasizes, an effort will be made to absorb all the applications that will be submitted and in this direction, a concerted effort is being made to utilize the potential of the existing building infrastructure as much as possible. The Deputy Mayor of Education notes that Heraklion is the 3rd if not the 2nd city with the most school units nationwide, from pre-school education to the completion of secondary education, and at the same time the needs are constantly increasing.
