Invitation to join the Agricultural Department of the Cyclades Chamber – Syros Agenda

With the this announcement we inform our members that the Chamber of Cyclades intends to proceed to creation of the Agricultural Departmentin accordance with article 67 of Law 4497/2017, as amended and valid after the passing of Law 5087/2024, based on which those involved in the primary sector who carry out commercial activity and are already registered with GEMI can register.

The Cyclades Chamber has always prioritized the promotion and utilization of the primary sector of the Cyclades, through a series of initiatives, such as the network Aegean Cuisine but also the educational seminars which he organizes systematically in recent years in collaboration with the Agricultural University of Athens for the agri-food sector.

The Cyclades region has a remarkable agricultural production, which contributes to the local economy, but also unique quality locally produced products. However, the Agricultural Sector today faces many difficulties and challenges, such as the climate crisis and the environmental requirements of the Common Agricultural Policy, the high production costs and the lack of Labor Force combined with the unique geomorphology and the diversity of the natural environment of the islands.

The support and strengthening of the primary sector is a dominant issue for the Chamber with the aim of creating a more balanced and sustainable development model in a tourist area like the Cyclades.

Therefore, in this context the Chamber of Cyclades can contribute to the strengthening of the primary sector through the provision of organized support infrastructures as well as through the planning and promotion of practices that favor this sector.

In particular, the Chamber of Cyclades can offer to those members who register in the Agricultural section the possibility to strengthen their business activity, to promote their requests to the State and also to take advantage of the various services and opportunities offered such as e.g. financial programs as well as education and training programs.

Businesses – members of the Chamber of Cyclades who are interested in moving to the Agricultural department, as long as they meet the conditions of the law, are invited to fill out the attached expression of interest form and provide personalized information from the AADE where the company’s KAD (main and secondary) are shown.
