The restoration plan for damages caused by the extreme weather phenomena “Daniel” and “Elias”, in School, Railway and Road Infrastructures in Thessaly and Central Greece, was presented in Mouzaki Karditsa by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras, in the presence of the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The event was attended by Mrs. Melina Travlou, president of the Union of Greek Shipowners.

The Union of Greek Shipowners responded immediately to the national effort to restore the damages in the regions of Thessaly and Central Greece, with its contribution exceeding 50 million euros.

“Within 10 days, as the Union of Greek Shipowners, we collected more than 50 million euros, faithful to our constant commitment “Shipping & Society Always Together”. In fact, the first project we sought to finance was the restoration of the damages in all the schools that were affected”, said Ms. Travlou.

Infrastructure Minister Christos Staikouras thanked the Union for its immediate response and important contribution.

Based on the special provision passed in the Parliament and which allows the implementation of projects of great importance in a shorter time, it is estimated that the contracting of the projects will be done in the summer, while in the part concerning the restoration of the school units, significant progress has already been made.
