Volunteers of his Volunteer Corps SupportCY of the Bank of Cyprus were trained by the 1st Special Forestry Operations Unit (EMODE) of the Hellenic Fire Brigade in fire legislation, fire risk assessment, wilderness Urban Interfacein the ways of suppressing fires, in the construction of fire zones as well as in scene safety.

According to today’s announcement, this specialized training took place in the context of strengthening regional cooperation for the prevention and response to fires with the approval of the Hellenic Fire Brigade.

In addition, they used equipment of the 1st EMODE, participated in sports training for the staff, in marches in a difficult mountainous area, while they also participated in a large-scale exercise at the foot of Kithairon, with the participation of aerial means of the Fire Brigade.

The training was carried out at the Civil Protection Academy of the Hellenic Republic in Villia Attica by the Commander and trainers of the 1st EMODE (Special Forest Operations Unit) and included theoretical but much more practical training.

The aim of the action is to strengthen the educational background of its Volunteer Corps SupportCY of the Bank of Cyprus to increase efficiency in supporting government services in matters of fire prevention and response in Cyprus and if and when the need arises in Greece, in view of a demanding fire fighting season, the announcement states.
