In addition to the African dust, very high temperatures were recorded in areas of S. Greece and especially in Crete – where the temperature reached 36.6 °C
The extent of the African dust phenomenon in many areas of the country that made the atmosphere suffocating are reflected in new satellite images of NASA’s US Aqua satellite that passed over our country on Tuesday morning.
NASA’s Aqua satellite data shows the intense African dust wave in high resolution “Minerva red” that affected her Hellas and took place in its area Eastern Mediterranean.
Except African dust were noted a lot high temperatures in areas of Southern Greece and mainly in Crete. In Falasarna, Chania the temperature reached 36.6 °C.
It is noted that from center of Athens, until Glyfada the horizon was hidden by the dense cloud of dust that engulfed everything, especially as the sun was setting, while today the situation was similar in many other areas of the country, such as Crete, Kalamata, Nafplio and Argos.
Meteorologists predict that the phenomenon will last until tomorrowso it will start to recedes from west.
