The Municipality of Eordaia and the Municipality of Grevena together with the Bioeconomy and Environment Cluster of Western Macedonia (CluBE), in collaboration with the Regional Union of Municipalities of Western Macedonia (PEDDM) were selected to receive technical assistance to record and address the phenomenon of energy poverty for development actions against the phenomenon, with the support of experts. The selection was made following their application in the second call of the Energy Poverty Advisory Hub (EPAH).

The possibility to use the technical assistance was launched by the Energy Poverty Advisory Hub (EPAH), the flagship initiative of the European Union managed by the European Commission at the request of the European Parliament. EPAH is a collaborative network of stakeholders aiming to eliminate energy poverty and accelerate the just energy transition of European municipalities. The aim of the technical assistance initiative is to provide high quality tailored support to municipalities to tackle energy poverty. As a result of the second call, 51 municipalities from all over Europe, including the Municipality of Eordaia and the Municipality of Grevena, were selected to receive personalized support.

As part of the implementation of the initiative, the municipality has already started the collaboration with the Consultative Hub for Energy Poverty and the experts from INZEB AMKE and they prepared a plan that describes the activities for the diagnosis of energy poverty in the Municipality. The results of the diagnosis, which will be carried out by means of a questionnaire, will allow the more effective implementation of actions in the groups most affected by the phenomenon.

This collaboration will lay the foundation for a plan to mitigate energy poverty in Municipalities, which is useful for a series of necessary updates of necessary Municipal documents, such as the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SEAP).
