--

“The domestic political forces must enter into a serious dialogue in order to improve the quality of democracy, the rule of law and fundamental rights”

The MEP candidate with PASOK-KINAL Costas Chrysogonos, professor of constitutional law at the Athens University of Athens, was recently in Komotini, together with the Member of Parliament B1′ of the northern sector of Athens Milena Apostolaki, where they spoke at an event organized by the student faction of the PASP Law party entitled ” Rule of Law or Rule of Injustice? Deficits and deviations from the European acquis”.

Pathological problems in our country

The MEP made a strong reference to the condemning resolution in the European Parliament on the rule of law in Greece stating that “it is clear that the resolution points out pathological situations that exist in our country which the domestic political forces must enter into a serious dialogue in order to improve the quality of democracy, the rule of law and fundamental rights”. He claimed that instead of doing this, the Govt “throws the ball onto the platform” with the argument that the European Parliament is anti-Greek, and that if we do not respond to the demands of the European Parliament, Greece risks facing problems with the flow of EU funding.

The problems facing the EU in general were analyzed, while it was emphasized that regardless of the country’s situation, these problems will continue to exist. However, he emphasized that there is a great need for the drawing up of a common defense policy as well as the creation of a European rapid reaction military corps.

“At the forefront of European Unification”

“Greece, mainly for national reasons, must be in the first gear of European Unification. And in order to do this we should comply with the proposals set by European law, and in particular Article 2 of the Treaty on European Union, in relation to the fundamental values that constitute the compass for participation in the Union: The State of law, human rights and democratic values and principles”analyzed Kostas Chrysogonos.

Milena Apostolaki made it clear that the party’s goal is to be 2The party, which, he claimed, is a need of the country due to the dominance of a party that has turned the parliamentary majority of the New Democracy into a regime, crystallized by wiretapping, the crime of Tempe and the scandal of leaking personal data of voters. “We urgently need a political counterweight, a hope in the world that there is an alternative government proposal that will be able to express the needs of the majority”he analyzed, arguing that the ND government does not serve the needs of the majority of the lower, middle and weaker social strata.

The event was attended by PASOK officials N. Rodopis, MP Ilhan Ahmet, as well as several law students and more.
