Pavlos Baritakis: The Municipality supports the just request of the classification of the schools of Viannos as inaccessible

A meeting with the Directors of the school Units and teachers of the Municipality of Viannos was held by the Mayor Mr. Pavlos Baritakis.

More specifically, the Mayor of Viannos met with the Principal of the Lyceum of Viannos, Mrs. Georgia Soukoulis, the Principal of the High School of Viannos, Mrs. Georgia Kyriakou, and the Principal of the Primary School of Ano Viannos, Mrs. Efi Fouza, as well as the primary school teacher, Mr. Manolis Fanourakis. , but also the high school teacher Fr. Emmanuel Pneumaticakis.

The meeting was held on the issue of restoring the designation as “inaccessible” of the Municipality’s school units. According to what was said from the teachers’ side, the Municipality complies with all the conditions set by law. Conditions related to:

-with the kilometer distance (the Municipality is at a distance of more than 50 km from the urban center where the Directorates of Education are based),

– the mountainous area, since the Municipality is part of the mountainous municipalities of Greece, recognized by Official Gazette (law 3852/2010) and

– the lack of transport, as the Municipality of Viannos no longer has any regular transport and therefore a transport connection with the urban centers.

“For the Municipality of Viannos, all conditions are met in order for its schools to be classified as inaccessible. Therefore, what needs to be done is the recognition of all the school units of the Municipality as inaccessible. It is a basic request which the Municipal Authority adopts and supports”, points out Mr. Baritakis, who stated that he will immediately transfer the request in question to the Ministry of Education, as well as to the relevant Directorates of Education.

“Viannos is wronged, while other municipalities with similar characteristics have been characterized as inaccessible. The consequence of this injustice is that teachers are not given incentives to declare Vianno as part of their choices, there are shortages of teaching staff and ultimately the smooth operation of the school units of our Municipality is put at risk,” concludes Mr. Baritakis. .
