Major issue for him construction sector remain the delays in public works paymentscausing companies to endure for months the repayment of certified works.

In the problem it creates in the market of the technical sector the default in project payments reported yesterday (23/4) at margin of the opening ceremony of E65, the head of the group GEK TERNA K. George Peristeris. “Payments are very late years, not months“, he stated in journalistic questions and mentioned that in several cases these delays are more than a year. As he said the company puts “back” in order to deliver the projects earlier but also to proceed with expropriation issues, by leasing land in the places where it is constructing the road axes in order to speed up the work. Information indicates that only in the GEK TERNA group the delays in payments exceed 400 million euros.

The concessions

For entry scenarios of new shareholders in the group’s new concessions, Mr. Peristeris for the Attiki Odos said that proposals have been madein the company but for now there is no thought of third party entry.

However, he clarified that the company can apply to TAIPEDthe entry of new investors into the share capital of the concession company, as long as the new investor is approved by the Privatization Fund.

It is recalled that GEK Terna will take over operation and maintenance of the urban highway with the expiration of the existing contract in October 2024, offering the highest price 3.27 billion euros.

Mr. Peristeris was also asked yesterday about the pending agreement for the sale of TERNA Energy in Arab interests Masdar, which he avoided commenting on, without clarifying whether there will be announcements before or after the Easter period. Regarding the issue of funding from Recovery FundMr. Peristeris hinted that the Ministry of Infrastructure and the government are considering a disbursement mechanism for the resources included in the RRF, in order to avoid the loss of funds resulting from tight schedules. Amounts of resources have been provided for BOAK 90 million of the Recovery Fund to finance the concession.
