An update on the implementation of a relevant decision taken unanimously by the Larissa municipal council on the exemption of municipal fees for the flood victims of Larissa, the major opposition is requesting with a question submitted to the municipal council.
In the relevant question, the following are highlighted, among others: “After the catastrophic floods that hit our city in September 2023, we took the unanimous decision as a Municipal Council to exempt from Municipal Fees our fellow citizens who were affected by this particular bad weather. In fact, the specific decision was also approved by the Decentralized Administration in terms of its legality.
From our recent visit to the districts of Agios Thomas and N. Smyrna, we found that several of our fellow citizens are not aware of the specific decision and have not submitted the corresponding application to the Services of the Municipality of Larissa.
The municipal authority is asking, how many applications have been submitted by our fellow citizens, how many of them have been processed by the services of the Municipality and sent to DEDDIE so that our fellow citizens can see the exemptions on their accounts? and whether there has been sufficient information through announcements and press releases, about how they will make the applications and any other information they will need.
We believe that the specific decision we took then should have the greatest possible acceptance by our fellow citizens. It’s the least we can do for the people affected by the painful bad weather that afflicted our city.”
