Nikos Farandouris: With the central goal of representing all Greek citizens

--

“There are also internal issues and the residents of Evros and Komotini must feel that they must have a strong voice out there”

The MEP candidate with SYRIZA-PS Nikos Faradouris spoke to radio Chronos 87.5fm and the Municipality of Bakirtzakis about the electoral criteria of the voters, the underdevelopment of Thrace and the connection of national issues with European ones, as well as his personal goals that focus on in the representation of the entire Greek people.

The question of choosing people who are recognizable by the world to give them their vote was raised, having this as a central criterion rather than the criterion of qualifications in the European Parliament. “There is this recognition of show people, bad lies. On the other hand, I think that the world is slowly maturing. And he is maturing because he sees various important developments around him both at the level of Greece, but also at the level of Europe. And I think that the choices he will make will be choices of knowledge and training experience, and this is how our country should always be represented in the decision-making centers”, explained Mr. Farandouris.

Central concern is the development of the region
At another point in the interview, the MEP candidate claimed that he does not believe that what should be done in Thrace has been done and stated that he will be present to fight with all his strength for the development of the Region. “We have been discussing the recovery fund, the NSRF for roads for the last few years […] Where has all that money gone? Have they gone to upgrade our district or have they gone to pockets and studies and contractors? So if someone wants to make a criticism and bring the issue of the region to the fore, he has only to do it in the European Parliament. To ask for the reason: where are the funds going for so many years intended for the development of the region? PAMTH and other regions of our country have fallen so far behind”, said Mr. Farandouris emphatically.

He explained that he is not sure whether we should ask for different things in national and European elections, and referring to his experience as a lawyer, he claimed that national and European issues are related, such as issues of funds, immigration, energy. “Obviously there are broader issues in Europe, such as foreign policy, common defense policy, issues related to international relations, but there are also internal issues and the residents of Evros and Komotini must feel that they must have voice out there,” claimed the MEP candidate.

A political office open to all
He closed by saying that his goal is to represent all citizens, that their problems are his, and to address all the issues that plague society, and that residents can feel that they can contact his office and process issues on which the Athenian center and its bureaucracy close the door.
