In a warm atmosphere with the presence of several Corfiots from Athens, it was presented at IANOS Bookstore her afternoon Monday, April 22his new historical novel Nikos Parginou THE HAMINI OF OBRIAKI of PSYCHOGIOS Publications.
The book was presented by the author Konstantinos Georgatos and the choreographer – director Petros Galliaswhile excerpts from the book were read by the actor Konstantinos Famis. They honored the event with their presence the author and editor, George Chronas and the producer and director, Yannis Kostas. The writer, Nikos Parginos in his speech, clearly moved, he spoke of the great response and love that the reading public has shown to the book, which led to its reprint within a few months, he referred to the events in the Middle East and connected the tragic events of the Jews of Corfu with today’s reality highlighting the timelessness of the issues the book deals with.
“We unfortunately live, at the mercy of technology, in the age of the image, of immediate information, of abundant digital filters, which create and reproduce illusions and illusory standards, where the wrapping and the appearance are more important than the reality and the truth itself. We live in the age of shiny lies and digital emotions. We are more eager to convince others that we are having a good time, to receive praise for what we do, than to live in the moment thus reducing the value of our lives“, the author characteristically mentioned and continued: “Through the advance of technology, we have lost the genuineness and authenticity of our interpersonal relationships, the magic of the spoken word, of storytelling, of expression through silence that can even answer loud and clear. Mostly we lost the truth itself by borrowing virtual faces that alienated us. The simple life of our grandfathers and fathers that was fed mainly by pure dreams and the warmth of hope, the happiness experienced by those simple people, not through the little they had but through the much they did not lack, gave the her place in an incredible never-ending witch hunt».
