Greece is trying to strengthen its air defense even more. In one of these moves, according to the reports of websites specialized in military matters, our country wishes to acquire and is negotiating for the Spyder.

In particular, zona-militar in a report by the Israeli Arieh Egozi states: “The Ministry of Defense of Greece is in negotiations with the Israeli company Rafael for the conclusion of an agreement that will include the company’s Spyder air defense system. The war in Ukraine has boosted international demand for this combat-effective air defense system. The Czech Republic and Morocco have chosen Rafael’s Spyder air defense system for their short-range air defense needs.

Recently, Rafael, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, successfully completed a test of the SPYDER advanced air defense system in its latest and unique configuration: All in One.

The test involved intercepting a UAV in a difficult operational scenario, achieving a direct and effective strike. The SPYDER system, produced by RAFAEL, is used operationally by various military forces around the world, providing air defense solutions against various aerial threats, including missiles, UAVs, aircraft, helicopters and tactical ballistic missiles (TBMs). The system intercepts threats using two families of interceptor missiles manufactured by RAFAEL, the PYTHON and the Derby.

The All-in-One

Recently, RAFAEL introduced a new configuration for SPYDER, the All-in-One, which includes an integrated radar, electro-optical launcher, advanced command and control system, and PYTHON and Derby interceptors, all mounted on a single platform. This configuration serves as the optimal air defense solution for point or area defense, either as part of a SPYDER battery or deployed independently with minimal operator involvement.

In tests last week in Israel, the SPYDER All-in-One system successfully intercepted a UAV in a complex operational scenario, achieving a successful interception of the target,” the Argentinian defense website with correspondents around the world concluded. .

The Spyder (Surface-to-air PYthon and DERby) is an anti-aircraft weapon system of Israeli design, based among others on a Tatra or Mercedes truck chassis, and consists of two types of surface-to-air missiles, the Python 4 and the Derby.”
