On Holy Monday 4/29 at 5:00 p.m Iliachtida Model Nursing Home for the Elderly in collaboration with Psycho-gaia and the psychologist Manos Amanakis, co-organize the second evening of the cycle of companionship and storytelling together with the group’s elderly.

Continuing the exciting journey of storytelling, our topic for this meeting will be:

The trip of a lifetime! Losses and Consolations.

Our guests will visit us in the area of the unit and together we will spend a few hours, listening to the personal stories of the members of the storytelling group (Story Tellers) the essences of their lives rich in experiences.

In this way, we aspire to give the elderly who will participate the joy and recognition that we, as younger people, do not forget them for their contribution to life

At the same time our live presence will be a balm for the ups and downs of these people’s journey and at the same time a blessing for us who listen to their stories.

Thus, as partakers of this verbal and traditional wealth, we ourselves will be enriched, while at the same time we will become conduits so that this wealth is channeled from the older to the younger generations as an unconscious or conscious experience.

On the other hand, we will be lucky enough to enjoy the special way of telling and the folk songs of the old, very beautiful and special stories that will be full of life, color and humanity, and we will travel in time to an era that tends to be forgotten.

Oral language and tradition with its richness and vitality becomes the channel that sculpts culture and becomes the medium through which human relationships are formed into a living organism that includes past, present and future.

Storytelling is an ancient habit – a custom that strengthens the bonds of community members as well as family. Typical is the case of the Homeric Epics, the Iliad and the Odyssey, whose word-of-mouth narration has reached the present day, shaping Greek and Western culture in general.

On the other hand, many of us have the memory of grandma or grandpa telling beautiful stories in front of the fireplace or at the family table.

These stories and their internalized images according to the family systemic approach, are called family myths, and they create in each of us, a sense of unity with the rest of the family system, as well as personal empowerment and completeness.

Our first meeting left us with the best memories!

It was not only the experience of the slick stories that took us on a journey with the accompaniment of music, but at the same time many long-term benefits were observed for the participants from the elderly side, from this process.

The next topics of the meeting cycle will be the following:

Dreams and wishes

Love in other times

3. Forgiveness

4. Gratitude

5. The village madman

6. The family secret

The dates of the meetings will be announced soon.

The event will be invested with live music.

Photographer Giorgos Kavousiotis and members of the photography team of the Cultural Association of Agios Ioannis will videotape, photograph the event voluntarily and take the portraits of the members of the storytelling team.

We are waiting for you to live an unforgettable experience of humanity and roots in the collective soul.

The event will be open to a small number of participants (13) for health protection reasons.

It is necessary to use a mask and self test for those who will participate
