Sakis Kehagioglou mentioned the legal framework that foresees how the property of Nikolaos Glyksburg and Tatiana Blatnik will be divided after the end of their marriage.

The well-known criminologist spoke on the show “Super Katerina” and explained what the law in Greece provides for such cases.

Nikolaos Glyksburg-Tatiana Blatnik: How will their common property be divided after the divorce

“According to Greek law, the courts of the last place of residence of the spouses are responsible for issuing the divorce. I think that for this particular couple it is Greece. In regards to a couple’s assets within the marriage, the wife is entitled to 1/3, but it is a rebuttable presumption. In other words, more money may come out or the courts may award less money”, initially stated Sakis Kehagioglou.

“1/3 is considered by law from the moment of marriage onwards, that is, if the wife, in this case, contributed to the increase of her husband’s property and in what way. There are court decisions that say that because she raised the children, or because she supported him morally or professionally, or was invisible in his businesses, she has a larger or smaller share than normal. This is usually what they ask for in lawsuits, but 1/3 is given by law. Acquisitions are judged by the defendant’s place of residence. In other words, if a lawsuit is brought by the wife against the husband, then they are judged based on where the husband’s residence is, the respective courts are competent. The prenuptial agreement, if it existed in the said couple, is not valid in Greece, but in America”, he added.

It was also mentioned in the show that on the day of the announcement of the couple’s divorce, Nikolaos Glyxburg was in Amorgos with the mission of Action Hellas. He, in fact, according to the relevant report, had notified all the members of the mission about the announcement that would be made about his divorce.
