April 23rd has been established internationally by UNESCO as World Book Dayin honor of two great creators of world literature, William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes, who passed away on the same day on April 23, 1616.
Target of this day is to honor books and authors and to encourage the public – especially young people – to discover the joy of reading.
On the occasion of this day, and not only, the Kosmio Primary School organized an event in the former community store of the settlement with the participation of all the students of the school who, through poems, songs and texts, highlighted the importance of the book in the daily school and not only life.
THE Association of Parents and Guardians of the School in co-operation with Teachers Association and Director Mrs. Niki Pantelidou they welcomed the writer-animator Ms. Adrianna Delegou who spoke to the students about the value of books and also presented her own book titled “Brasidas is the tyrant on the internet” which refers to the dangers of the internet to children.

The author Andriana Delegkou, through an action, emphasized the dangers that the internet hides for young children, as well as the ways of prevention and protection from the negatives of modern technology.
The event was graced by the presence of the Head of the Primary Education Directorate of Rodopi, Mrs. Katerina Sarafidou.
The Association of Parents and Guardians was represented by the Vice-President Mrs. Pepi Petrou and on behalf of the local council, the President of the local community of Kosmio, Mr. Vassilis Tsombangiovannis.
The surprise he had in store for the students of Kosmio Primary School was pleasant and instructive the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Maroneia and Komotini Mr. Panteleimon who attended the event with His Eminence Archimandrite Fr. Oikoumenios Markopoulos and sent his own message to teachers, students and parents
