A tragedy with the death of a 25-year-old man took place on Sunday afternoon (21/4) in the area of Leimonas in the Municipality of Evrotas.
According to a competent information of “Lakoniko Tipo”, the time was around 7:30 pm, when a tractor driven by a 53-year-old Greek man was leaving a field on a rural dirt road.
A 25-year-old Pakistani land laborer and one other person were on the skid at the time, as the three men were said to have been carrying out agricultural work earlier.
Under unspecified circumstances, when the agricultural tractor was moving, the 25-year-old man, who was standing at the point of the cart, lost his balance and fell to the ground.
The operator of the tractor, however, did not realize the incident in time, as everything happened in a fraction of a second, while the noise of the engine apparently covered the sound of the fall and possibly the voices of the victim.
An EKAV ambulance was immediately called, which transported the 25-year-old to Sparta Hospital. However, despite the efforts of doctors and nurses it was already too late for the man, as he had expired and was simply pronounced dead.
The driver of the tractor was arrested and was about to be taken to the District Attorney of Sparta, while on Monday morning (22/4) the 53-year-old was released by order of the judicial officer.
