In the repetition of the process of electing the representatives of the municipal council of Ioannina to the Board of Directors of the Compulsory Solid Waste Management Association after the rejection of the decision taken at the end of January on the same issue by the Decentralized Administration of Epirus of Western Macedonia, the municipal council proceeded in its meeting today .
The opposition proposed as its representative Giorgos Arletos, who was voted for by all, except for Olys Tsoumani who voted white, while the proposal of the majority in the persons of Thomas Bega, Makis Chrysostomou and Tatiana Kalogiannis, was supported by the factions of the mayor and Mr. Kalogiannis, with those of Mr. D. Papageorgiou, N. Gonda and P. Koloka to abstain, while Mrs. Tsoumani voted white.
Before the voting process, the mayor made the following statement:
“The decision of the Decentralized Administration, according to the point of view of our municipal authority, is wrong because it is legally and constitutionally unacceptable for the minority to have a say and interfere with the representatives of the majority, apart from the election of its representatives. By voting twice for the same administration of the same association, we have the paradox of the minority participating in two electoral bodies. We politically decide not to appeal the decision of the Decentralized Administration to the committee of article 152 and then if necessary to justice because we know that this will be a time-consuming process and we do not wish in any case to be the ones who will delay the completion of the process for the election of the Bureau of the Waste Management Agency. We chose to repeat the process at the city council for speed. However, the House should know that at the moment there is also an objection pending in the Decentralized Administration in relation to the representatives of the municipality of Artaia, and all the municipalities will have to decide together whether we will proceed with the Body elections before the decision of the Decentralized Administration is issued Administration on this objection or not”.
