The forecourt of the Holy Monastery of Leimonos was full of people at the great event entitled “Behold the secret sacrifice”, organized on Monday, April 22nd in the evening, by the Municipality of West Lesvos.
“In an overwhelming environment that contributed beyond the sanctity of the space and the lighting of the monumental buildings of the historic monastery, musical and interpretive hymns of the Great Week, verses of psalms and literary folk texts as well as music and songs in the climate of the days were performed. Special mention deserves to be made of the performance by the well-known great actress Eugenia Dimitropoulou, obituaries and poems, especially those for the Easter days before and after the Cyprus tragedy, 50 years ago” states in the press release.
In addition to the narration by Mrs. Eugenia Dimitropoulou, interpreted by Christos Chalkias, Evi Gouvali and Andreas Joakim. While accompanied by the orchestra of various music of the Conservatory “GERMANOS O MELODOS”.
The participants of the event were welcomed by the Mayor of Western Lesvos Brigadier Verros and the Deputy Mayor of Culture Zacharo Joachim. Among the others present was the Metropolitan of Mithymni, Mr. Chrysostom, the Archimandrite p. Nikodimos Koutsabasis as a representative of the Metropolitan of Mytilene, the deputy Panagiotis Paraskevaides, the Deputy Regional Governor for Culture Michael Anthimos Dessosrepresentatives of the Army and the Greek Police, Presidents of Communities and many officials of the municipal authority of the Municipality of Western Lesvos.
