On Sunday, April 21, the races of the 18th Thessaloniki International Marathon ‘Alexander the Great’. The races included the 42195 meter marathon road from Pella to Thessaloniki and parallel races of 5 and 10 kilometers in the city of Thessaloniki, finishing on the city’s beach.
The Lesvos Runners Association participated in the races with several of its members, in detail:
Marathon road: Fotis Zisimopoulos, Manos Orfanos, Dionysis Kourkoumelis, Athanasios Kizos, Lazaros Dimtsas, Nikolaos E. Athanasis
10 km race: Niki Katsara, Anna Lemonia, Paraskeas Katsianos, Eugenia Saginetou.
5 km race: Niki Katsara, Stylianos Kopanou.
All of them successfully completed their race, while high performances were also noted. In particular, the honorary member of our club, the phenomenal runner Fotis Zisimopoulos won first place while also setting a course record, Manos Orfanos won 8th place in the general category and 5th in his age category, Dionysis Kourkoumelis broke the three-hour barrier while all the members of the Association who ran in the marathon, completed it in a time of less than 4 hours, achieving individual records.
The Board of Directors of Lesvos Runners congratulates the members of the Association who participated in the Marathon “Alexander the Great” of Thessaloniki and wishes them a good recovery!
