Gerakis (Marc) for 2024 European elections: Feasible and realistic goal of 33% for ND – 2nd place still open

“At the moment, New Democracy is still first and by a clear margin,” said Thomas Gerakis, managing director of the polling company Marc, today, regarding the 2024 European elections.

“That is to say, the percentage he secures in the opinion polls is greater than the sum of the percentages of the two parties that follow both at the level of electoral correlations, but also at the level of persons, i.e. in terms of “in which leader do you have more confidence”, “whom do you consider fitter for prime minister” and all the quality features. We will see that, however we are not going into an election where we are concerned with the question of “which party will come first in the election”. This, it seems, is known. From there on, we will see the percentages he will collect and with what percentages everyone will compare them” he said on the First Program of Hellenic Radio 91.6 and 105.8, in the program “The GPS of current affairs”.

As he characteristically emphasized to the journalist, he considers the goal of 33% for New Democracy in the European elections to be feasible and realistic. “On the other hand, I believe that Mr. Kasselakis will not make the same calculations. That is, it will not compare with the European elections and I am referring to the percentage of SYRIZA. SYRIZA will therefore not compare with the European elections, it will compare with the parliamentary elections. And I consider it reasonable, because it has a new leader, who will indeed claim – and rightly so – “I took over a party with a percentage of 17% and I will be measured by that”.

Beyond that, there is also PASOK, where the following paradox can occur here: To be the only party of the three we are discussing which will have almost doubled its electoral strength from the percentage it received in the previous European elections – which he got 7% ​​and something – and let’s talk on the night of the elections that he is the big loser of the match because, obviously, he won’t have achieved the 2nd place” he said.

Gerakis: The second place bet is open

“Now, the second place bet is open,” Mr. Gerakis pointed out at the end of his conversation with the journalist, explaining: “It is obvious that it seems that SYRIZA has the best chances for the second place and as the days go by the more this work case is strengthened. Just an asterisk that I put is this: that this will happen in the event that all those who declare that they will vote for SYRIZA in the polls will also express themselves at the ballot box. And I say this because SYRIZA, in contrast to New Democracy and PASOK, is a party that has a very low average age of voters. In that sense, then, it is a question mark whether they will go to the same percentage as the voters of the other parties to vote in the elections. Because usually young people don’t have as much participation as older people.”
