15 months have passed since the completion of the TAIPED competition for the utilization of the former construction site of the Rio – Antirrio Bridge, and the fund is proceeding next Monday, April 29, with the signing of the contract for the sale of the 165-acre plot to Pavlos Pettas ABEE. The parent company was declared the highest bidder for 2,885,000 euros, an amount more than double the corresponding price of the previous tender process which was the 4th in a row, while the “green light” for signing the contract has also been given by the Court of Auditors.
The property located in the Municipal Unit of Antirrio of the Municipality of Nafpaktia and has not yet been transferred due to bureaucratic procedures that had to be completed after the sale. In this area there was a warehouse, the use of which belonged to the contractor of the concession contract for the Bridge project. The warehouse was essentially a burden and prevented the completion of the process of buying and selling the property, which was settled by a concession made by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and allowed the removal of the warehouse and the return of the property to the private individual.
The area was won by Pavlos Pettas ABEE, the largest domestic company that produces biofuels, oils for the food industry, soaps, etc. with production units in Patras and Bulgaria. Pavlos N. Pettas ABEE has more than 80,000 sq.m. of privately owned facilities in Greece and another 110,000 sq.m. in Bulgaria and produces specialized products in its two fully automatic facilities in Achaia.
According to information from pelop.gr, the company intends to create on the 165 acres of Antirion, a processing unit for its products, while at the same time it intends to utilize the local small port facility, which is currently used by ferries, with the aim of exporting through sea its products to Italy.
This is an important investment, which will help not only the development of Pavlos Pettas ABEE, but also the local community of the wider area of Nafpaktos. The point of the plot is pivotal, as it is located next to the Rio – Antirrio Bridge, at the beginning of the Ionian Road, while new perspectives are created for the future with the construction of the Lamia – Itea – Antirrio road axis.
It should be noted that for the year 2022 the Achaean company Pavlos N. Pettas ABEE had a turnover of 274,449,481.47 euros, compared to the amount of 202,672,108.51 euros of the previous year. At the same time, for the same fiscal year the company recorded profits before taxes amounting to 18,941,533.40 euros compared to profits for 2021 amounting to 3,823,041.26 euros.
