With many questions and undiminished interest of the students of Agiasos High School, their briefing on Lesbos, which has been recognized by UNECSO as a Global Geopark, its characteristics that led to the recognition and also about the contribution of Geoparks to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, was completed.

The action is a continuation of the successful cooperation and networking action that has started between the Agiasos High School and the Martin-Luther Schule school from the World UNESCO Geoparks of Lesvos and Bergstrasse-Odenwald in Germany. The program is implemented this year for the second consecutive year within the framework of the ERASMUS+ program.

For this year, an educational visit of the Martin-Luther Schule school from the World UNESCO Bergstrasse-Odenwald Geopark of Germany to Lesbos as well as of the Agiasos High School in Germany is planned.

During the information about the Geopark of Lesvos, students and teachers of Agiasos High School, taking a historical route, learned about the history of the Geopark of Lesvos and the history of the creation of the network of Geoparks that started in 2000 from Lesvos. Students and teachers, through rich photographic material, then discovered the unique geosites of Lesvos and the importance of geoparks for the local community. They also had the opportunity to get to know the way the Petrified Forest was created and the fossil sites of unique scientific value.

A discussion followed on the way the Geoparks work for the 17 Sustainable Development Goals as well as the actions implemented by the Agiasos High School.

The students throughout the briefing actively participated, with undiminished enthusiasm and excellent questions.
