The Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, responsible for Transport, Christina Alexopoulou and the Secretary General of Transport Yiannis Xifaras paid a visit to France on April 22 and 23.

During the visit, they went to Ministry of the Interior and Police facilities in Rennes and Paris, where they were briefed extensively by officials on the policy followed in the field of road traffic management, the significant reduction in road deaths and the general improvement of driving behavior, which has been achieved over the last 20 years, using technology.

After the visit, the Deputy Minister made the following statement:

“At the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, alongside the digitization of services and the simplification of procedures for the benefit of citizens, we are planning the further utilization of technology to significantly improve national performance in the field of road safety. To this end, we study the best practices followed in other European countries.

In the last two days, we had the opportunity with the General Secretary of Transport to learn in detail about the positive results recorded in France by the use of new technologies in traffic management, with an emphasis on road safety. We will use the conclusions and information we obtained from our visit in the National Road Safety Strategic Plan, which we are already implementing.”
