A coordination meeting of the competent services for the control of the meat market of the Western Greece Region was held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 under the chairmanship of the Deputy Regional Governor for Rural Development, Andreas Filia.

The General Director of Regional Agricultural Economy and Veterinary Medicine Savvas Vlachos, the Director of Veterinary Medicine Kostas Milios, the Director of EFET Western Greece Dimitris Tsiboukis, the head of the Peloponnese and Western Continent Supervision of ELGO DIMITRA Ioanna Tsiligianni and his head participated Department of Veterinary Public Health Vasiliki Aga.

At the meeting, the coordination of control mechanisms in Western Greece was discussed in implementation of the action plan drawn up by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food for the control of the market in view of the Easter holidays, with the aim of protecting the health of the consumer, but also the prevention unfair fraud practices (Greekizations). The excellent cooperation up to now was established, specific coordination steps and communication channels were decided on all the days of the holidays, so that there would be the best possible result.

The control services of the Region of Western Greece in the immediate future will carry out continuous controls at all stages of the meat supply chain and in the three Regional Units of Aetoloakarnania, Achaia and Ilia, in cooperation with the competent services, the Deputy Governor stressed and added: Our goal is, in addition to the non-negotiable protection of the health of the consumer, to prevent any thought of clever Greekization of meat during this period, thus protecting the livestock of our region in this difficult economic situation”.
