On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 11.00 a.m. was held by the Schools Ambassadors of the European Parliament, the 6th Lyceum of Larissa and the Music School of Larissa in collaboration with Europe Direct of the Thessaly Region, an event entitled “European Parliament Plenary Session Simulation – European Elections 2024”.
The action took place in the Regional Council room in the building of Koumoundourou and Papanastasiou.
Initially all the participants gathered in the square at the entrance of the Region of Thessaly and the students performed the anthem of the European Union Ode to Joy.
The students and accompanying teachers were welcomed by Ms Maria Galliou, Deputy Regional Governor of P.E. of Larissa, who urged them to shape their personality, acquire knowledge and participate in society as complete personalities.
Also attended was Mr. Lazaros MakrisExecutive Secretary of the Region of Thessaly who mentioned the importance of the participation of everyone and especially young people in the upcoming European elections.
A greeting was given by Nikolaos ZervasDirector of Secondary Education of Larisa, Athina Miliou Director of the Music School of Larisa, Evangelia Spyropoulou Director of the 6th Lyceum of Larisa and Fotini Katsiakou Europe Direct Representative of Thessaly Region. Afterwards, an online discussion of the students took place with the MEP – Vice-President of the European Parliament, Mr. Dimitrios Papadimoulis.
As part of the event, a Simulation of a European Parliament Plenary Session was held by 40 students from the two schools.
The topics discussed in the Simulation were: European Elections 2024, European Green Deal, Digital Transformation, Human Rights and Domestic Violence – School Violence. Mr. Papadimoulis answered students’ questions that were related to the topics.
The students were accompanied by the teachers from the 6th Lyceum of Larissa Anna Antonoulis, Zoe Gatziona, Katerina Kothra, Thomas Miliousis, Yiannis Papageorgiou and from the Music School the teachers Vasiliki Kosmanou, Vaia Tzoka, Efthymia Tsotsani.
