The entrance ticket to the Perama Cave will be increased from now on. The increase was approved by a majority vote of the City Council. The deputy mayor for Culture, Minas Paschopoulos, attributed it to the need to digitize the cave, but also to energy costs.

The visitation of the Cave is satisfactory. In 2023, approximately one hundred thousand visited the great monument of nature, while since the beginning of the year, visits have reached almost thirty thousand, with a large number coming from school trips.

The individual ticket from now on for the general entrance to the Cave increases from seven to eight euros.

The group ticket for groups of more than 15 people will be six euros, for pupils and students at four euros and for the students of Ioannina at two euros.

The major opposition faction disagreed with the increases proposed by Mr. Paschopoulos. Eleni Akonidou, the municipal councilor who was appointed, emphasized that in previous years there was an increase in visitors and an increase in the income of the Cave Organization.

He disagreed with the ticket increase stressing that it is important without showing that there will be real benefits for the Municipality.
