According to meteorologists, the atmosphere will be suffocating in several areas of the country, due to a combination of dust and heat, while at the same time there will be strong east southeast winds that will reach 8-9 Beaufort in the Aegean.

Marousakis: Stifling atmosphere in a cocktail of dust and heat

Clearchos Marousakis speaks of the strong presence of African dust and high temperatures.

In particular, as the OPEN meteorologist reports, the strong south winds will bring an increase in temperature, with the result that in northern Crete we will see the mercury “reach” 33-35 degrees Celsius. The combination of dust and heat create a suffocating atmosphere, said Clearchos Marousakis.

Until tomorrow there will be large concentrations of African dust in our country, especially for the central, western and southern parts of the country, and then the phenomenon will be limited to the eastern and southern parts, as the wind will turn from south to west and north-west.

Cloudiness will prevail today in most geographical areas and especially in the west, central and north we will encounter mud showers. The winds will blow south southeast in the Aegean and Ionian and will reach up to 9 Beaufort. At 26-28 degrees Celsius the temperature in most areas with the exception of the northwest where the mercury will not exceed 21 degrees. In northern Crete, with the help of the “descendant” to the south, it will push the mercury close to 33-35 degrees Celsius.

According to Clearchos Marousakis, on Wednesday the rains are expected to be limited mainly in the northern parts of the country, while a new disturbance is expected on Thursday. From Friday onwards, the weather will clear and the sky will clear of clouds and dust, with meltemias dominating the Aegean, especially towards the central and south. The weather will remain like this until the middle of Holy Week and then new disturbances will come, with an unstable weather pattern.

Yiannopoulos: Dust, rain and high temperatures

Today will be characterized by a lot of dust in the atmosphere, rains mainly in the central and northern parts of the country, but also high temperatures in the south, mainly in northern Crete, according to ERT meteorologist Panagiotis Giannopoulos.

Already at 8 in the morning at the stations of the National Observatory the temperature in Messinia and Crete has even reached 32 degrees. At the same time, stormy east southeast winds will blow in the southern Aegean.

On Wednesday, the winds from the morning in the Ionian Sea will blow westerly and will clear the atmosphere in the west and the mainland. The dust will remain until the afternoon in the Aegean mainly in the easternmost parts with the winds there blowing southeast.

On Thursday, rain is forecast in the west and the north, a few storms in northern Greece and the temperature will drop slightly. No more rain is expected in the country until Palm Sunday. Finally, on the weekend the temperature will rise again, reaching 24 to 26 degrees in the central and southern areas.
