Criminal prosecution in the degree of felony for exposure of a minor to danger and also for bodily harm was brought by the First District Prosecutor in Kos against the 21-year-old father and the 20-year-old mother for the death of their one-year-old infant.
Both parents, according to rodiaki.gr, are being held in order to be brought before the competent investigator of the island tomorrow to apologize, while the other child of the family (a two-year-old boy) is being hosted by relatives.
It is recalled that the baby was taken dead to the hospital of Kos on Sunday night. According to information, the 20-year-old mother of the child, found at 19:45 of the same day that her little girl had lost consciousness.
Subsequently, he tried to help the child while at the same time shouting for help. Then, tenants of the apartment building went to the apartment in order to help. Around 20:15 the child’s mother called an ambulance and at the same time another tenant provided first aid. At 8:25 p.m., EKAV rescuers arrived, found that the infant was not breathing and proceeded to resuscitate.
At 20:32 the infant was received by the on-call doctors of the Kos General Hospital, who found that the child was not breathing. Despite the efforts of the doctors, the infant died at 20:45.
According to initial information, doctors noticed that the infant had bruises and abrasions on various parts of his body. Immediately, they informed the police, where during the inspection of the body they also confirmed what the doctors reported. also there was talk of signs of sexual abuse, but the forensic report showed no such thing.
From the forensic examination it emerged that the infant’s death was caused by suffocation due to ingestion of food and in particular, fried potatoes.
Both the infant’s mother, who is pregnant, and his father were arrested and taken to the ward. There they allegedly stated that the child choked on the milk while the mother was feeding him. They are also reported to have reported to the authorities that the injuries suffered by the infant came either from blows received by her two-year-old brother, or from some accidents.
The Roma family lives in central Greece and went to Kos for the summer season.
It is worth noting that the father had been arrested in the past for possession of child pornography material and the Police Department of the Security Department found that he had views of such material on his mobile phone.
